Manage departments in 52ViKING Store Management
This topic is primarily for administrators and other people who manage a Fiftytwo solution
You may need to have particular user rights in order to use this functionality. Ask your Fiftytwo administrator if you're in doubt.
You primarily use departments for VAT and statistical purposes. A department covers a number of related article groups. For example, if you set up a Dairy department, it can cover the article groups Cheese, Milk, and Yoghourt.
You can assign a VAT rate to a department, so that all articles that belong in article groups under the department will get that VAT rate. You can also assign a finance account to a department, so that your organization can run statistics on the department's sales.
You can manage departments for a single store as well as for multiple stores at the same time in 52ViKING Store Management. Here, we primarily describe 52ViKING Store Management for single-store management, but if you've set up synchronization between your chain's enterprise controller and your stores' store controllers, you can use 52ViKING Store Management for chain-wide store management as well.

Open 52ViKING Store Management in a browser, connect to the IP address or hostname of the required 52ViKING store controller, and log in.

Navigate to departments:

Expand the menu in the left part of the page

Expand Article maintenance

Select Departments

In the top right corner of the Departments page, click .

In the Department information section, specify the following:

Department number: The department number that will tie the article groups in the department together. Department number is a key field that you can't edit later.
If your organization uses a special numbering scheme for departments, it's important that you follow that scheme. Ask your Fiftytwo administrator if you're in doubt.

Department name: A name that describes what the department is used for.

In the Details section, specify the following:

Account no: Select the required finance account number for the department.

Tax: Select the required VAT rate for the department.

Click at the top of the page to save.

Find the required department.

In the filters section at the top of the page, search for the department's number or name.

Click the required department's department name.

Edit the department's properties as required.

Click at the top of the page to save.
