Manage stock in 52ViKING Store Management
52ViKING Store Management has a number of features that can help you with stock management in your stores.
Update stock levels ad-hoc
Imagine the following example scenarios where article stock levels must be updated ad-hoc, that is directly where and when it's needed:
-
A mobility chain has a convenience store at one of their gas and charging stations. In the store, a shop assistant discards four sandwiches that have been on display for the maximum allowed number of hours without being sold. That means that the store's stock level must be adjusted down, possibly with a reason code that explains why the sandwiches were discarded.
-
A wholesaler representative visits a grocery store. Unfortunately, he arrives an hour later than agreed. As a compensation, the representative gives the grocer a 50-can crate of a popular fruit drink free of charge. The store already has the fruit drink in its inventory, so the grocer decides to sell the 50 extra fruit drinks in the store. That means that the store's stock level must be adjusted up, possibly with a reason code that explains that the fruit drinks were a wholesaler gift.
In Store Management you can easily adjust your store's stock levels up and down on an ad-hoc basis. Shop assistants can even access the particular part of Store Management that's used for adjusting stock levels directly from 52ViKING POS, so they can adjust stock levels from the familiar interfaces of their tills without the need to go to a backoffice computer.

Use reason codes in stock management
When users perform certain actions on your 52ViKING solution, your organization may want to ask them why they did it. Asking such questions is primarily relevant for statistical reasons (for example why a shop assistant discarded an article so that the stock level must be adjusted), but it can also serve as a gentle reminder to staff that their actions are monitored and logged (for example when a shop assistant removes cash from a till).
To help users quickly answer why they performed a particular action, 52ViKING can automatically ask them to select a reason code.
Reason codes are widely used in stock management because it's often helpful to know why stock levels were adjusted up or down. For example, if a convenience store repeatedly discards freshly made sandwiches because they've been on display for the maximum allowed number of hours without being sold, statistics with reason codes can help the store prepare a realistic number of sandwiches each day of the week so that the store can avoid food waste.
